The Pricing Analyst role

As a Pricing Analyst in the Margin Management team, you will be working closely with key stakeholders in the organization to advance understanding and performance of our pricing practices and pricing concepts. You will have a key role in establishing the data foundation for this journey and uncovering insights that translate into informed and well-founded pricing decisions across our product categories and segments.
In the Pricing Analyst role, you will act both as an analyst and as a project coordinator, and will be providing recommendations on how to improve profitability by optimizing vendor and customer pricing.


Responsibilities
•    Measure pricing accuracy, discount structure and quality of internal data to identify possible improvements
•    Monitor, analyse and interpret pricing performance, price elasticity and market trends to lay out the as-is situation and provide recommendations to improve profitability, market positioning and product mix
•    Scope out opportunities based on market trends and industry condition
•    Assist in developing dynamic pricing tools to visualise and determine the potential impact of price adjustments on sales and profitability
•    Collaborate with Category Management, Sales and Market departments to understand, challenge and develop competitive pricing processes and strategies
•    Prepare and present pricing analyses to stakeholders across the organisation, including top management
•    Identify simplification and alignment opportunities in the way we tackle pricing globally

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with an analytical mind and business acumen. To succeed in the position, we believe a degree in business, finance, economics or related field would be beneficial. Relevant experience may however compensate for lack of formal education. You would also have acquired 2-3 years’ working experience in pricing management, consultancy, business analytics or similar.

As you will be working with considerable amounts of data, we imagine that you are able to maintain overview, whilst at the same time being detail-oriented with a vigilance for ensuring accurate work. 

We expect you to be proactive in raising issues, and have the courage to challenge your colleagues and stakeholders. You are a structured person who enjoys simplifying complexity and are able to motivate and connect with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. You have extensive working knowledge of Excel, and preferably experience with SAP and business intelligence tools.

The work location is Gardermoen, Norway. We are an international organisation with colleagues in different countries, so it is essential that you can communicate effortlessly with your colleagues in both English and Norwegian.

About the Margin Management departement

Pricing is recognised as a strategic enabler of Solar’s profitable, sustainable growth, and is therefore an area of investment for further focus and development.
Margin Management is a newly established department within the Commercial Market & Sourcing division at Solar. After successful implementation in our other Solar countries, we are currently in the start-up phase of establishing Margin Management as an important function for our Norwegian operations. 
The aim of the team is to actively monitor, execute and follow-up activities that safeguard and improve margins. We also support stakeholders across all functional areas by making sure that pricing governance is kept and develop insights that they require to “outperform competition”.
In the Margin Management department, you can look forward to working within a small and dynamic team, where your ideas and contributions to drive improvement is welcomed.
